│ LogMsg.exe v1.0 11-15-92 │
└──────────────────────────────────────────┘
What it Does
------------
LogMsg takes a log file (any text file) and creates a private
message to the Sysop in the conference indicated. It works
with both WildCat 3.0+ and 3.5+ BBS systems.
LogMsg can also create a public message to ALL in the desired
conference. If you specify the /A option on the command line,
the message will be public and addressed to ALL users. The
/A parameter can be specified anywhere on the command line
*before* the subject line parameter.
Command Line
------------
==> LOGMSG ConfNumber FileName (Optional /A) (Optional Subject Line)
1. ConfNumber is any valid conference number from 0 to 999.
2. FileName is the logfile name to import.
3. /A parameter changes the message to public-ALL instead of
private-Sysop.
4. The remainder will be used as the subject line. If no subject
line is indicated, the subject will be the log file name.
Other Information
-----------------
If the log file is too big, two or more messages will be
created as necessary. If the log file does not exist, the
program will return errorlevel 1.
The private message will be addressed to
1. The Conference Sysop if defined, or
2. The BBS Sysop.
The original log file is not affected by this program. (It won't
be deleted.)
Setup
-----
LogMsg can be run from any directory and looks for the required
WildCat files in the path. As long as the main WildCat directory
is in the path, you should have no problems running LogMsg.
Multi-Node BBSs
---------------
If you are running a single-line version of WildCat, LogMsg should
not be run while the BBS is up, or when any other utility is
accessing the message databases.
In order to run LogMsg while the BBS is online, you should be running
a multi-line WildCat version and have either DOS share or Novell
defined in the Makewild program. In addition, the environment
variable WCNODEID must be set to a valid number between 1 and 250.
Use the following command:
SET WCNODEID=3
using 3 or whichever node ID you wish to use. This node ID must
not be duplicated. No other BBS node or program using this node
ID may be running while LogMsg is accessing the databases.
Registration & Support
----------------------
This program is a supplement to the DupMsg, Enhanced UTIs, and
Censor programs. Registered users of those programs may freely
use LogMsg subject to the same terms as the program(s) they
registered. There is no additional charge for using the LogMsg
program, although the program remains copyrighted.
There is no seperate registration for LogMsg; it is included with
the above programs. Those who have not registered one of the above
programs but would still like to use LogMsg are encouraged to register
DupMsg.
